Many people are very excited about the thought of embarking on a London to Paris cycle ride like the Arch to Arc, however one thing that puts people off is the fundraising aspect of the event.
The James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer has tried to set the individual target as low as possible at £1000 to make the event as accessible as it can. Even so £1000 can still seem a little daunting, especially when there is a sense of "giving fatigue". I know I find it hard to keep on asking friends and colleagues each year.
A number of people have signed up as mini-teams, we have one group of 3 another of 5 for example. So, from a fundraising perspective if the team of 3 raises £3000 and the team of 5 raises £5000 the that's fine, how these sums are reached as individuals is less important, some will raise more than £1000 others less, but the net result for the charity is the same. I for example merge my fundraising totals with my partner. By pooling your fundraising activities it should make it less daunting and also more fun.
What you'll probably find is that you'll easily reach your personal target and in fact you're more than likely going to exceed it. Most people from this year's event raised in excess of £1500, one person even raised over £10,000!!
