Etiquette when riding in a group

  • Dont get too close to the rider in front of you
  • Point/Call out potholes or any other obstructions in the road
  • Dont brake sharply.  Call out if the group is either "Stopping" or "Slowing"
  • Listen out for instructions from the group leader and pass those messages back
  • Shout out if somebody is falling off the back of the group
  • Always wear a helmet
  • Make sure you carry spare inner tubes and tools
  • Always follow the highway code at all times.

Common Commands

  • "Stopping - Means the group is coming to a stop
  • "Clear" - Usually used at a junction to let those behind you know that they can procede
  • "Car Back" - Means a car is coming from behind
  • "Car Up/Down" - Means a car is coming towards the group
  • "Single Up" - the group should move into single file to enable traffic to pass.
  • "Ease Up" - Tells the group to slow down
