Enigma is a new British company owned and founded by Jim Walker who with over 25 years experience in the lightweight cycle industry has teamed up with Mark Reilly, formerly of Omega Titanium, arguably the UK’s finest frame builder and bike designer. Mark also has more than 20 years expertise in the design and construction of high quality bicycles.

Our combined aim is to produce the most beautiful bikes in the world. Designed in the UK and hand crafted in Titanium. Enigma bikes are special bikes but at a price that won’t break the bank.

Why would we choose Titanium when there are other, cheaper alternative materials?

Titanium is the most remarkable metal with qualities like no other material. These qualities make it the perfect choice for bicycle frame building. Titanium is very strong but very light, has a natural longevity with unsurpassed corrosion resistance, produces a sublime ride quality and has a natural beauty that will last a lifetime. It sounds like the perfect material and in our opinion it is.

However there are disadvantages. Titanium is a somewhat enigmatic, mysterious metal and hides it’s secrets well. It is not a rare metal but the ore is difficult to extract and when extracted, requires a highly costly and technical procedure to process it into frame tubes. Even when these obstacles have been overcome and you have the finished tube set to work with, Titanium does not make it easy for you. Meticulous care, great skill and near perfect conditions are required to weld the tubes into the finished article. You just can’t cut corners when you work with Titanium. Therefore unsurprisingly, it’s expensive.
